What Audio Cleanup and Restoration Covers
Audio cleanup is the process of removing or reducing unwanted elements from a recorded audio file — background noise, room reflections, mouth clicks, sibilance, hum, clipping distortion, plosives, and other artefacts that reduce clarity or professionalism. At StudioToGo, this work is done using iZotope RX, which is the industry standard for audio repair and the most capable tool available for this type of work.
We accept files from any source — interviews recorded on a phone, podcast content captured via Zoom or Teams, field recordings, USB microphone recordings, DSLR camera audio, broadcast captures, or archival material. The quality of the source affects what's achievable, but most files with a single clearly dominant problem can be significantly improved.
What We Can Fix
Noise reduction — removing consistent background noise (air conditioning, traffic, hum) without affecting the speech signal. De-essing — reducing harsh sibilance on S and T sounds. Mouth click removal — eliminating the distracting lip and mouth sounds that appear in close-mic recordings. Room tone repair — smoothing cuts in dialogue. Level normalisation — bringing inconsistent levels into a consistent range. Clipping repair — restoring distorted peaks in recordings where the input overloaded. Declipping, denoising, dereverberation, and spectral repair using iZotope's spectral editing tools for more precise corrections.
We're honest about limits: Audio restoration can significantly improve problem recordings but it cannot create detail that wasn't captured. If a recording has so much background noise that the speech is buried, or has been severely distorted, there is a point beyond which improvement becomes impractical. We'll test a sample of your file before you commit to the full project.

Pricing
Audio cleanup is quoted per project based on file length and the complexity of the problems. Short files (under 5 minutes) are typically quick to quote. For longer projects or large volumes of files, we quote a per-minute or per-file rate. Message us on WhatsApp with a sample or description of the audio.
