What Custom Beat Making Means

A custom beat is built from scratch for a specific artist or project. It's not a pre-made instrumental pulled from a library, and it's not a lease beat that another ten artists might also be using. The process starts with understanding what you need — genre, reference tracks, tempo, mood, the story the song is trying to tell — and builds from there.

At StudioToGo, beats are produced using a combination of hardware and software. The Moog One synthesiser adds analogue bass, pads, and leads with a warmth that software rarely replicates accurately. The Korg Kronos covers acoustic instruments and a wide range of tonal textures. Omnisphere and Serum handle everything from cinematic pads to modern trap-style synths. Drums are programmed in the DAW, layered, and processed to sit correctly in the mix.

Genres

We produce hip hop, trap, drill, R&B, pop, Afrobeats, soul, electronic, and genre hybrids. The production approach changes significantly between genres — a trap beat and an Afrobeats instrumental require completely different rhythmic frameworks, sonic palettes, and arrangement logic. We work in the genre rather than approximating it.

The process: You share reference tracks and direction. We build a draft, share it for feedback, revise based on your notes, and finalise. Once the beat is approved, you receive the stems. If you want to record vocals over it, we can schedule a vocal recording session straight after.

Ownership and Licensing

Custom beats produced at StudioToGo are exclusive to the project they're made for. You receive the stems and the files. Licensing terms are agreed upfront — if you need an exclusive buy-out, that's the default for custom productions.
